Vagabond // Pulp Fantasy Roleplaying Game - Core Rulebook contains the base rules for Vagabond, the new tabletop roleplaying system by Taron "Indestructoboy" Pounds!
Vagabond is a d20-based "roll-over" system, laser focused on practical play, character customization, and lowering mental load. Fans have called Vagabond "compact" and "chewy" rather than "rules light" or "crunchy."
It draws inspiration from Medieval romance stories, dungeon synth, and all dungeon-crawlers to come before it. Vagabond is a TTRPG system that blends old school utility with modern philosophies and sensibilities.
- "The system neutral system"; Vagabond is an OSR-like system built for compatibility with most Basic/Expert-derivative monsters and adventures. It plays extremely well with classic TSR adventure modules, Old School Essentials adventures, and system neutral content (such as Vast in the Dark by Charles Ferguson-Avery, and The Garden of Ynn by Emily Allen).
- Potentially infinite leveling, with expected play in the 1st to 10th Level range.
- Solo, Co-Op, and Guided support, drawing its inspirations from RUNE, Dark Fort, and Dragonbane.
- Deep, low-load character creation, focused on keeping your character sheet to mechanical weight over fluff.
Combat
The Combat System allows for traditional Guided play, as well as Solo and Co-Op with bespoke adventures.
- Enemies do not make d20 rolls, as the Players will be rolling their Checks and Saves each Turn.
- Dexterity-based Dodging and Speed, Awareness-based Ranged Attacks, meant to spread-out the overall value of Stats.
-
Armor makes you harder to hurt, not harder to hit, providing damage mitigation rather than an increase to Armor Class.
-
Combat occurs in Group Initiative, with each of the Players coordinating who goes first between themselves and acting on a shared Group Turn.
- Lower Health Totals overall, for even faster combat with less calculations. The damage structure is based on B/X.
Magic
The Magic System is a Mana-based custom cast system that allows for a near-infinite amount of spells and casting expression!

Customer Testimonials
"Vagabond may just be my new favorite RPG. A relative newcomer in my library, this game takes what I love from so many fantasy RPGs and puts them in one tight, easy to access package. Setting agnostic and the possibilities for player expression are wild. Includes great rules for solo and co-op play." - ImmersiveDiversions
